A Love Story– Lyrics- Velvl Chernin. Music- Gershon Leizerson
Once upon a time in Palestine
there lived a nice guy named Samson.
They wanted to marry him to his cousin,
a girl as good as gold.
Or maybe she was a neighbour of his
and not a relative at all. Who knows?
What we do know is that she was young and beautiful
and he gave his consent boldly.
In fact, he was braver than a lion,
had a giant's strength
and used to come to the Philistine-packed city
without a spear.
As for those Jew-eaters, he drove them away
if he met them where they shouldn't have been,
and dead bodies were scattered all around
as if it were not just a walk but a mass murder.
But there was a whore in Philistia
who turned Samson's head.
she served the evil king devotedly
and was always ready to do anything.
And Samson was a big philanderer,
he had a giant's strength
and he was lost to the Jewish world
because he chased every shiksa's skirt.
After he was killed in Philistia
and became a hero of Tanach,
his cousin, deeply grieved,
kept bringing fresh flowers to his grave.
I didn't add anything to this story,
this is just how it happened.
Yeah, c'est la vie. Got it? That's life:
a bit of honey and a bit of horseradish.
